Meaning of kata :
Crane on a rock due to the one legged stance
which resmbles the sight of a crane poised on a rock about to strike out at
its prey.
Also referred to as Fighting towards the east.
The word Chin may relate to a Chinese technique
for attacking the vital points. Therefore, as with Chinte, the kata could
be described as the technique for attacking the vital points.
Origins of kata :
The originator of the kata is believed to be the Chinese
military attache Chinto to whose name the kata was dedicated. It is known
to have been practised by both Tomari-te and Shuri-te.

Shotokan, Shito-ryu and Wado-ryu.
