About CKA

The Chiltern Karate Association (CKA), established in 1993, is a full member of the English Karate Federation (E.K.F). The association currently has clubs in Amersham, Aylesbury, Chesham, and Holmer Green in the county of Buckinghamshire, England.

The association was established with the aim of promoting high quality ‘Traditional Shotokan Karate’ within a friendly nurturing environment. It is our view that karate should be for everyone young and old, able and not so able.

“It is often the case that the people who turn out to be good karate students are those who struggle in the early years but persevere. Progression will come to those who are willing to work hard and devote time to their own techniques. Additionally, because of this hard work the progression achieved will also provide the individual with a great sense of personal achievement and satisfaction.”

The CKA also aims to have a high standard of dojo etiquette within all of the clubs. Good etiquette and good discipline in the dojo permeates into the karate itself. Often it will be found that the quality of etiquette within the dojo will be reflected in the quality of the karate student. Poor etiquette can turn out poor karate-ka.

The CKA is run without any of the petty politics found within some karate clubs and associations. Students are permitted and encouraged to train with other instructors to enhance their knowledge of karate. Guest Instructors are regularly invited to take special courses to give all CKA members an opportunity to experience the best in karate-do.

Karate-ka from other clubs are welcome to train within any of the association’s dojos, on special courses that are held periodically, or when guest instructors attend. Alternatively Sensei Davenport and the experienced team of CKA Instructors are willing to attend, on invitation, other clubs to take special courses in Shotokan Karate or Kyusho Jitsu. If you wish to explore this opportunity, please contact us. Where appropriate the CKA can also provide gradings for individual karate-ka, clubs or Associations. Again, please contact us for more information.
