1. There must be a minimum of 6 months of consistent unbroken training between 3rd Kyu and 2nd Kyu and 2nd Kyu and 1st Kyu. The period between 1st Kyu and Shodan is a minimum of 12 months and Shodan grading is on invitation only.
2. On attaining Shodan there is a minimum period of two years to Nidan and then 3 years to Sandan and so on. Again these gradings are invitation only.
3. All Brown belts are expected to train regularly at their own Dojo. They must also make a regular appearance at the Honbu and are encouraged to visit and train at other Dojo’s. The benefits of training with different students and under other Instructors will be obvious.
4. All Brown Belts of 2nd & 1st Kyu will be encouraged to assist with running beginners’ courses. Teaching is an excellent way of developing an understanding of the basic karate techniques and requires an element of self-analysis. It also serves as a confidence builder in the run up to Shodan grading.
